It is time for Ukiyoe fan to visit the Japan Ukiyoe museum.
Ukiyoe museum which established in 1982 arrived 40 years anniversary.
The Japan ukiyoe museum is a print maker’s dream, holding the largest private collection of Ukiyoe(wood prints),paintings screens and old books in the world. The Sakai family has collected more than 100000 pieces over several generations.
According to special exhibition leaflet of ukiyoe museum, collection of Sakai family started by Sakai family 6th heisuke.
In this time, superior Ukiyoes are said to be exhibited,they had been collected by 2 generation of 6th heisuke and 7th Rihei. They are Kitagawa
Utamaro,Utagawa
Kunisada, Katsushika
Hokusai which had been active Ukiyoe in that time.

In Dec, Kitagawa
Utamaro ukiyoe is exhibited. 'Chusingura' It is well printed. The museum Founder Sakai Tokichi bought from forein countory and returned it to mother country Japan.
Ukiyoe museum is different from ordinary museum. Taking photograph is permitted. You can collect your favorite Ukiyoe photos.
This museum stores many famous Ukiyoes and one is famous original great wave(Kanagawa oki namiura).
Transportation
Town sneeker bus is convenient for Ukiyoe museum(hakubutukan), because ukiyoe hakubutukan bus stop is in front of museum.
Fee is 200 yen. There is 2 routes in timetable, please use long route for Ukiyoe museum bus stop and not short route.
bus stop near Matsumoto station.Town sneaker west(nishi 西) route is proper route. please get on west route at bus stop shown in below.
